Christmas 2013 – Dinner & LOTD/OOTD

2013… Is it just me or has it flown by too darn fast? Especially this last month seemed sooo short. I had been stressing over the Christmas dinner party I was hosting…and it seemed to be showtime before I knew it!

This year I offered to host a dinner-party for 3 (and a half) people. My guests were one of my best male friends, my best female friend and her 4yr old daughter. The last two brought a friend who was visiting them from overseas.
After about an hour and a half of brainstorming about the menu, I decided to make this:

For dessert we had Vienetta Ice cream. I also made red velvet cupcakes (without frosting this time because one of the guests was lactose intolerant and my dairy-free frosting was a disaster).

I chose the colors red, blue, grey and silver for the table. I found the tablecloth and went from there.

Soooo for my outfit and makeup…which I was very excited about:

Dress: about €15 at New Look.
Blazer: old one from H&M’s 2012 collection.
Belt: €14,95 in-store at The Sting
Necklace: don’t remember the brand but bought it in-store at V&D for €19,95.
Ring: In-Store at Kijkshop for about €3 (they had 75% off accessories)
Shoes: Are Michael Kors and bought them in a outlet store for €99.

For this look I used the following:

I always use a mixture of M.A.C. Prep+Prime (1 small pump) and Studio Fox Fluid in NC44 (1 full pump).

For contouring I also use a combination of two products.
I always start of with M.A.C. Powder Blush in Harmony because this color is slightly darker than my skin tone and it’s perfect for “marking” where it needs to be contoured.
To make it all a little bit darker/more dramatic I use the dark color of the Sleek Contour Kit (in the color Light).
For highlighting I use the lightest color of the Contour Kit.

For this I use Essence Stay Natural Concealer in the color Soft Nude. It’s a concealer pen and I apply it straight from the pen and blend it out with my Beauty Blender.

I set it all with Catrice All Matt Plus shine control powder I’m the color Warm Beige and apply it with an E.L.F. powder brush (#84003).

I recently picked up my first ever Sleek blush in the color Life’s A Peach and I’m in love with it!! It gives a natural looking glow as where a lot of pink/burgundy colored blushes look a little fake. I mean c’mon…do we (darker) colored women really blush?!?!?! I know I don’t!!! LoL 😜
Don’t get me wrong though…I still am addicted to padding that blush brush in those colors and treating my cheeks to a nice pink-ish/red-ish goodness!

Since it was Xmas I decided to do a darker classy smokey eye.
First I primed the lids with E.L.F. Eyelid Primer in sheer.
From the Urban Decay Naked Palette I used:

– “Naked” on my whole lid
– “Hustle” in the crease (blended out
VERY well!!)
– “Creep” in the outer third of my lid
(softly blended out into the crease)
– “Virgin” on the brow bone and the
inner corner of the eye

The eyeliner I used for the wing was Catrice Liquid Liner in the color Dating Joe Black.

On the waterline I used Rimmel Londen’s Soft Kohl in Jet Black

My everyday go to mascara combination is NYC Big Bold Mascara in Extra Black and Maybelline Pulse Perfection by Define-A-Lash in Blackest Black. I start of with at least two coats of the NYC mascara to give my lashes volume and a little bit more length. You can do more or less coats depending on the look you want to create.
Then I brush through with the Maybelline mascara brush. Make sure you scrape off all excess mascara off the comb/brush…you do not want to apply more layers with this step. The point of using this mascara is to separate the lashes and give them even more length.
Use short strokes like you are actually brushing the lashes.

I just filled them in with a black brow pencil. I don’t know which one it is because I’vealready had it for a couple of years. All I know is that it’s from Rimmel.

I ALWAYS prime and moisturizer my lips with a tiny bit of Vaseline and some Blistex Lip Conditioner. I like the tingly feeling the Blistex gives to your lips.
Then I line and fill in my lips with Etos Lip Pencil #004 (I accidentally put the wrong liner in the picture). Unfortunately you can only buy these liners here in The Netherlands. I don’t think there are any stores elsewhere in Europe…

Once my lips are moisturized, lined and filled… I coated it with my M.A.C. Satin Lipstick in the color Rebel.

Ohhhhhh AND…..I covered it with E.L.F. Luscious Liquid Lipstick in Ruby Slipper!!!
