☼ Polish in the Sun ☼

polish

Today was such a pretty day! And what better than to spend it with the ones you love?! My “BFF” (do people still still use that term anyway?) and I enjoyed the nice weather with mani/pedis and Bacardi/Cokes in the sun.

Today I chose a grey base color and a bright pink color for the pinky-nails.

summer nails
So first off … for my base coat I used Essence Studio Nails 24/7  Nail Base. I love this base coat because it dries pretty quick so you don’t have to wait  too long before you can start  polishing your nails.

REMEMBER….you HAVE TO use a base coat to protect your nails from staining. If you don’t they’ll turn yellow…and that is NOT a sexy look!

After I put the base coat on I polished all my nails (except for my pinkies) with N.Y.C – In A New York Color Minute in the color “Prey of Grey“. I think N.Y.C polishes are really easy polishes to use. The brushes are of a good size….they’re not too thin….and you only need one coat of polish. The only downside is that it chips pretty fast. I bumped my thumb into the table and the sides already started to come off.
But other than that I really like N.Y.C. polishes. Maybe they chip less with an extra layer of top coat?!

On my pinky fingers I used Sinful Colors Professional in the color “24/7”  which is a VERY bright neon pink. It was love @ first sight when I saw this polish @ Walgreen’s on Collins on Miami Beach and it soon became my go-to color during my vaca. But even though I want to marry the color of this polish it has its disadvantages. When you put on a first coat of polish you see very clear stripes and you have to put on at least 3 coats of polish to get it nice and even. Also, when this polish dries up it becomes sort of matte. Ok.. so now i hear you thinking: “But matte is the Bomb.Com, Deborah!!!” …. Very true but this just looks like you’ve inherited your great-great grandmothers nail polish from back in 1567 and tried to superglue it on your nails!!! Not such a hot look…
BUT….when you finish it off with a layer of base coat it looks fantastic and you’re good to go!!!!

To help these polishes dry a little teeny-tiny bit faster I ALWAYS use Essence Nail Art Express Dry Drops. After you’ve polished your nails you have to let them “air dry” for about 30 seconds to 1 minute. Then put 1 or 2 drops of this amazing product on each fingernail and wait for about 5-10 minutes until your nails are completely dry.

The last step is putting a base coat on top of your (completely dried) nail polish. First, take a cotton pad and wipe of the access Express Dry Drops (maybe even wash your hands to make sure the product is really off). The topcoat I used today wasn’t really a topcoat but  Rimmel London Wear Maxx clear nail polish #42 Clearly Clear. Put this over your freshly polished nails and let it dry. You can repeat the previous step and put a few drops on those gorgeous nails if you want to…Piece of cake, dolls!!!!

In The Netherlands you can buy all these products at Kruidvat except Sinful Colors…you can find them on Fresh Mint Cosmetics.
To find N.Y.C. polishes in the US you could go to Walmart, Walgreens or Kmart.
To find Essence polishes in the US you could go to Ulta or instore @Walgreens.
Or try your local drugstore.

Have fun and polish away!
